Selecting a Patient's GP

After obtaining patient demographics either directly from a record system or by manual entry, Rego automatically searches for an NHS number and GP practice from the NHS Spine Service. Should a GP practice not be identified, users will be required to select from a drop-down list or manually input the details. Further information is provided below:

  • Select from the drop-down list of GP practices provided
  • Select the patient’s GP practice by either searching by name or postcode (as the practice may be listed under a different name)
  • If the GP practice is not available, select ‘Other’ and manually enter the details
  • Click ‘Next’
Please note:

The drop-down list provided should include all GP practices within the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) where Rego has been commissioned.

According to the guidelines agreed by the local commissioners, patients who are not registered with an NHS GP practice can not be referred via this service. It is recommended that you discuss this with the patient and encourage them to register with a NHS GP practice.

If the patient is manually entered or registered with an NHS practice that falls outside the CCG regions that Rego is commissioned within, a message will appear advising that the patient is considered ‘Out of Area’ and that the services available may be restricted
