Other via Email
Based on the locally agreed directory of services (DOS), patients may in certain cases, select a choice of hospital that is not available on the list. Further information is provided below:
  • Select ‘Other via email’ (listed as the last option in the patient choice of Hospital provider)
  • Enter an nhs.net email address in the field provided
  • Select ‘Confirm’
Please note:

Users are responsible in sourcing and providing the email address of the provider you wish to send the referral to; until this information has been entered, the referral can only be saved and will not move onwards.

Users are unable to track referrals sent via ‘Other’ and are therefore responsible in liaising with the hospital to check the referral has been received, triaged and accepted. Users should update the patient accordingly.

Where the option for ‘Other via email’ is unavailable, users must select from the providers on the list.

If the system requests that the patient selects a primary care provider from the ‘Preferred provider (indicative triage decision)’, the referral will still be sent there initially and sent to the hospital nhs.net email address via ‘Other via email’ should it be required
